Blink EP is the first release from The Scarlet Hour. Released on 23 October 2021 on JPB International PLC as limited edition of 50 copies on white vinyl style CD format.

The EP consists of 3 tracks – title track Blink, Afterlife and Torment. All tracks written and produced by the band.

The title track Blink was originally a Seventh Victim track that was written and recorded during the COVID 19 pandemic for World Goth Day on 20 May 2020. The song was inspired by the pandemic, highlighting the loss society experienced during that time – whether it was the tragic loss of life of a loved one, the loss of freedom, the feeling of alienation and memories of what felt like a past life. It was never officially released as a digital download or physical format, but it exists on the band’s now defunct Youtube channel – VIEW HERE.

The Seventh Victim split in the Summer of 2021, Tim and Mel continued as an electronic synth duo and released Blink EP in October 2021. The promo video for Blink was filmed at the band’s rehearsal studio in Darlington, UK and South Gare area of Redcar, UK.

The 2nd track on the EP to be released was Afterlife. The promo video was premiered on the band’s Youtube channel on 23 March 2022. Afterlife was also previously a Seventh Victim track, inspired by the track Body Electric by The Sisters Of Mercy. It was only played live once at what turned to be their final gig at The Attic in The Westgarth Club, Middlesbrough before the 2020 COVID lockdowns. The promo video was filmed on location at Seal Sands area of Billingham, Tees Barrage in Stockton On Tees and at the band’s rehearsal studio in Darlington.

The 3rd and final track from the EP was the gloom-fest that is Torment. The promo video was released on 5 January 2024 and was music journalist Mick Mercer’s featured video for his ‘Something For The Weekend’ blog. The video, film around Jesmond Park in Newcastle Upon Tyne, has clocked over 3.5k views on Youtube.
